The Holy Martyr Tsarevich Alexei church, Amur region
The Church of Tsarevich Alexei was built in honor of the city’s patron saint, the Holy Martyr Tsarevich Alexei, son of Nicholas II, the last Russian emperor. Svobodny was founded in 1912, coinciding with Tsarevich Alexei’s birthday, and was originally named Alexeyevsk until 1917. The icons on the second level are dedicated to the stages of life of Tsarevich Alexei and his parents.
